CRI Pumps honors farmers for adopting technology and innovation in farming
Ludhiana, 13th February: CRI Pumps India’s leading Pump manufacturing company in partnership with various State-level Agricultural Universities honors farmers from different parts of the country in recognition of their innovation and progressive methods followed in agriculture. These awards have been instituted to recognize the Indian farmer’s noteworthy and purposeful contribution to the field of agriculture, the backbone of the Indian economy.
CRI Pumps has instituted an endowment at Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana. The university will give away the best farmer awards in three categories – outstanding farmer for adopting improved water management technologies, outstanding farmer for adopting farm mechanization in agriculture and outstanding farmer for adopting organic farming. The awards will include cash prize of Rs. 10,000 each, a plaque and a citation. The amount for the cash prize will be debited from the interest accrued from the endowment deposit. The awards will be presented every year to eligible farmers by Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana at the Kisan Mela
This year’s C.R.I Pumps outstanding Farmer for the year 2014 includes
Mr.S.Rajinder Singh Sahota, Ludhiana, for adopting improved water management technology in Agriculture. The water management technologies adopted by him has helped in effective use of water resources in farming.
Mr.S.Jagdeep Singh, Sangrur District, for adopting improved farm mechanization in Agriculture. He has made tremendous progress in agriculture by making safe and proper use of farm machinery from sowing to harvest. He has been instrumental in motivating farmers to consider modern agricultural technologies in making agriculture profitable.
Mr.S.Amarjit Singh, Jalandhar, for adopting organic farming. He has contributed to save the environment from harmful chemicals. He has been involved in motivating farmers to consider organic farming and creating awareness among consumers on benefits of Organic farm products.
Dr.Baldev Singh Dhillon, Vice-Chancellor, Punjab Agricultural University, speaking on the occasion said, “the selection procedure is very stringent. Applications for the award are distributed by the Krishi Vigyan Kendra’s (KVKs). The KVKs shortlist and submit a list of three names. These names are assessed by a five-member committee based on 10 criteria and also visit their farm lands. The criterion is not only to do with their achievements, but also how much they can disseminate the knowledge that made them achieve great heights”.
